Shimla / Mashobra

A place of unique beauty is the oak and pine retreat of Mashobra, 9.6km from gaiety at an altitude of 2,149 metres (7,700 ft.), it is unbeatable for an ideal interlude beneath oak and pine. To dream the night away and enjoy the sylvan surroundings, is the equally beautiful rest house of Craignano and the Circuit House of Fair Lawns. On the top of the hill, for the naturalists, it is considered to be among the most beautiful rest houses in Shimla Hills.

Just 3km from Mashobra, Craignano is at an height of 2,279 metres (7,800 ft.). A winding path leads through the forest of pines up a gentle incline to the breath taking beautiful gardens filled with an abundance of flowers, amidst clumps of trees, in the spacious lawns, are stone benches and lovely secluded picnic spots. The area adjoining to Mashobra is famous for apples orchards.

Naldehra: Himachal Tourism Hotel ‘Golf Glade’looks after the accommodation and food of the visitors to this par -68 golf ground and pleasure spot. Lord Curzon, Viceroy of India (1899 to 1905). Was so enchanted by the beauty of the place that he named his daughter Alexandra Naldehra.

Kufri (2622m): Known for its ski runs Kufri, 16 Km away, attracts the largest number of tourists who come to shimla. It has a backdrop of peaks covered with snow, Himalayan National Park and a small zoo. Yak –ride is added attraction.

Fagu (2509m): Quite and peaceful, 22 km away, it is a fine resort far from the madding crowd. It has a Rest House and Tourists Bungalow overlooking the Giri valley.

How to get there

By air: Shimla's airport is at a distance of 23 kilometers at Jubbarhatti. The Airport is well connected to Chandigarh, Kullu and Delhi. Jagsons Airways offer excellent services and connect Shimla to various parts of the country.

By rail: Kalka, located at a distance of 96 kilometers from Shimla is the nearest railhead. From Delhi you can take a train to reach Kalka. In any case you have to change the train, as there are no direct trains to Shimla.

By road: A fine network of roads connects Shimla to all major cities in India.
